Video Clip

Stories and short stories to tell through the moving image. I like to experiment with songwriters to find new paths to follow or simply to create a visual carpet for the music to travel on; on the web, on the stages of live events, in streaming, with additional backstage and making-of, if required. Shot in high definition or a mix of different supports, including effects, graphics and 2D or 3D animation.

Gravità

First videoclip in collaboration with Paolo Ferrarini, linguist, musician, singer-songwriter. Together we tried to delve deep into the meaning of gravity. The result, as often is the case when exploring abstract concepts, was a short movie that gave birth to a new way of telling reality. We’ve been working together since 2008; my task is to bring to life precise ideas, pre-scripted to a large extent, and often even pre-shot during his journeys around the world. Working with Paolo is a new experience each time, as he never sets for granted or banal solutions, he wants the viewer’s perception to be tilted and for the clip to tell his story, often as the perfect counterpart to the music track that inspired it.

La Passeggiata

Veronica Marchi is a well-established Italian rock-pop-folk singer-songwriter. Amongst her collaborations she can boast opening gigs for artists such as Cristina Donà, Niccolò Fabi, Nada, Antonella Ruggiero, Lara Martelli, Teresa De Sio, Roberto Angelini, Marta Sui Tubi, Laura Bono, Davide Van de Sfroos, Eugenio Finardi. We shot her video mainly with a hand-held technique to achieve a subjective effect and follow the characters of the story, to elucidate what the music track is about. Together we edited it and added effects, looking for an exquisitely vintage glaze, echoing known atmospheres recalling the carefreeness of childhood.

Play It Loud

Shot by Enrico Fracca, I edited this version for club monitors and VJ screenings. Live images were mixed with others from our archive, to follow, highlight, juxtapose, destroy what the DJ’s music suggests. This results in situations where the audience listens and follows the audio and the video with the same enthusiasm. The DJ works for the audience’s ears, the video works for their eyes, while dancing frees their endorphins. Screened at several dance clubs all over the North of Italy, this is just one of the multiple image possibilities in entertainment, a sort of lounge-room for the eyes, to be consumed in between cocktails.

Sylicon Funk

In many collaborations, the music of a videoclip can inspire my film-making, and viceversa. In collaboration with Nicola Bisciu Righetti and the band Teorema Calogero we had fun shooting a film focused on the speed/freshness of their live performance, without worrying too much about flaws. We were looking for a powerful and spontaneous rock, course and “agricultural”, that could be adapted to the atmospheres of the film for which it plays as a soundtrack. The success of the operation led to multiple collaborations that helped me refine my editing technique around the beat and the groove of the music. Priceless was the presence of the female lead of my film Vigasiosexploitation vol.2: Eveline.
